Campaign Manager's Blog: Green Strategic Voting

I have had several Liberal supporters in the riding ask me "don't campaign too hard" because it would split the vote. The idea there is that opposition to the PC incumbent should focus on electing the Liberal challenger, implying that this is the best alternative.

Wait! I'm a Green supporter, but I should vote Liberal? No way. But I'm still going to vote strategically.

Hello everyone!

Saturday morning, June and I took advantage of Durham Region's hazardous waste drop-off at the Clarington animal shelter. We "ambushed" cars as they lined up to get in and canvassed for their support. We were encouraged by the response. A few were grumpy — "Bah, all politicians are the same!" — but most were interested in finding out more. Politicians — municipal, regional, provincial and federal — take note: people do care. It means something that we saw all those people waiting in line for a half hour or more to make sure their hazardous waste didn't go down the drain.

All that Web 2.0 stuff

Many people scoff at the power of the web. Yet applications such as You Tube, My Space and Facebook have pulled people together in the Internet.
