Education is society’s great equalizer. The Green Party of Ontario advocates a move toward a single, publicly funded school system that offers all children the same opportunity to learn together, in English or French, in an inclusive and supportive environment. Eliminating the duplication and inefficiencies in the current school model will allow us to direct resources where they are needed most: in the classroom. We want tomorrow’s adults to develop all the tools they need to succeed and prosper, along with core values of tolerance and understanding.

There's not much to add to the debate from a local angle, except to point out the unnecessary long bus rides for kids. This riding has a significant rural area and the idea of busing kids who live next to school A all the way to school B — and kids next to school B over to school A — because of religion is an awful waste of diesel fuel.
