Message from Bill Hewitt, President, Green Party of Ontario

Thank you to everyone who attended the May 16 – 17, 2009 Annual General Meeting held in Toronto, hosted by the Davenport riding. As many of you now know, Frank de Jong, Leader of the Green Party of Ontario has announced that he will be stepping down.

The Green Party of Ontario owes a profound debt to Frank who has served as leader since 1993 shaping the party and being the embodiment of Green Living.

It is with great thanks to Frank, his contributions and commitments to the party that the GPO now opens a Leadership Contest Convention to be held in London on November 13-14th, 2009.

A Leadership Contest Committee is being formed by the Provincial Executive to create the rules and oversee the contest. If you are interested in sitting on this committee please put your name forward to Rob Schmidt, Secretary rschmidt@gpo.ca or through the GPO office by calling: 416 977 7476.

Submissions to sit on the Leadership Contest Committee must be received by: Monday May 25th, 2009.
This Leadership Contest will be a great way to introduce all Ontarians to the Green Party of Ontario leading up to the 2011 election. Thank you for your continued support of the Green Party I look forward to an energetic new year.
