Environmental degradation, economic instability and a growing democratic deficit threaten us all. The Durham Greens are searching for a strong credible candidate who can speak out for the Green Party principles of ecological wisdom, fiscal responsibility and social justice.

It's a tough act to follow Stephen Leahy, environmental journalist, who earned
the votes of 6,041 people last fall, up 6.8 percentage points to 11.4% from the 2006 election. We invite all prospective candidates to run for the nomination.

The nomination meeting will be held in Port Perry Thursday September 17th. See the rules and procedures at the bottom of this announcement. To be fair to all prospective contestants, the rules and deadlines will be strictly adhered to. See also the suggestions for your candidate biography.

Deadline to become a new member of the Green Party of Canada and be eligible to vote at the nomination meeting. Lapsed members may renew at any time, up to and including upon arrival at the meeting. Register or renew online at greenparty.ca.

Nomination period is open for 7 days. Prospective nomination contestants submit their application form, bio and photo by email to Rebecca Harrison, Ontario Organizer.
