It's about building a community

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Between the frenzy and excitement of election campaigns, what do political parties do?

Well, they try to keep interest in the political process, recruit new members, raise funds for the next election. They also develop policy alternatives, prepare electoral platforms and generally try to stay in the public eye.

With the Greens, it's the same, yet also different.

Sure, we fundraise, we try to stay in the news, we develop policies and prepare for the next election. But we know it's more than just about the next election. We also try to stay connected with local activists for democracy, fiscal responsibility and a safe environment. We also stay connected with the quiet supporters who join the party, donate, and help in their own private ways. In the end, it's about people who want better.

Here is our invitation to join our growing community by becoming actively involved in the Green Party locally. We need the talents of people who can write, do basic accounting, keep track of membership lists, organize events, draw posters and illustrations, pick up the phone to invite members and supporters to events. There are opportunities to be the public face of the party or to take on routine day to day tasks that suit shy volunteers. With many volunteers, schedules become more flexible: some can contribute many hours all at once, while others are steady with one or two hours a week.

Won't you help us build a strong healthy Green community in Durham?
